Meet Francisco Chamberlain, one of our dedicated HSEQ professionals at KB-Energy.

For more than 20 years, Francisco worked in the oil and gas industry in Venezuela. But during regular trips to visit his family in Spain, something else captured his imagination: the giant wind turbines dotting the European landscape. He was fascinated by their scale, their engineering, and their environmental purpose. These visits planted a seed, and he began to dream of a different career path.

When Francisco eventually moved to Spain, he decided to chase that dream. With no prior experience in wind, he eagerly joined GWS as a technician to learn the ropes. His first assignment in Ireland gave him nine months of practical, hands-on experience. "The main challenge wasn't changing industries," Francisco reflects, "but adapting to the lifestyle of a wind technician - travelling across the EU and spending long periods away from home."

After about a year, he transitioned into HSEQ, completing his training at the GWS Academy. He later brought his expertise to KB-Energy, where he has been a valued team member for the last two and a half years.

For Francisco, working in wind is about more than just a job; it's about purpose. He finds the work incredibly rewarding, from contributing to new technology and the environment to simply being outdoors in nature. He also appreciates the culture at KB-Energy. "I enjoy being part of a smaller company with direct access to senior management," he says. "There's a great balance of responsibility and autonomy, and I feel I have a genuine influence."

On-site, Francisco focuses on building strong relationships. He avoids being "the policeman," aiming instead to be part of the team, working collaboratively towards shared goals.

His advice for anyone considering a career in wind or HSEQ? "Go into the field with open eyes. Learn from the technicians, understand their work and their mindset, and become part of the team."
